Dr. Amy Both is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the University of Toledo (UT). She has earned degrees from The Ohio State University, the University of Indianapolis, and Arcadia University. Dr. Both serves as the faculty representative to UT’s IPE program and facilitates small-group discussions. Her teaching responsibilities include co-teaching an education course with occupational therapy and educating DPT students on professional development, pediatrics, and clinical education. Dr. Both’s scholarly interests include qualitative research. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Addressing the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) has been shown to improve patient outcomes while decreasing healthcare costs, both of which contribute to WHO’s Quadruple Aim. Interprofessional education (IPE) is a critical component in the learning process for healthcare professionals to be prepared to address clients’ unmet SDOH needs.
