Angela McConachie, DNP, FNP-MSN, RN, is an Associate Professor at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College. She is the Accelerated option, undergraduate program director. Interprofessional education has been a part of her scholarship journey for the past 10 years and continues to present and publish locally, nationally and internationally. Her passion is within the education setting, ensuring that the content delivery is as engaging as possible and clinical setting is providing the maximum experience for the student as well as translate into a productive first year as a nurse. This will further benefit recruitment and retention of nurses.

Background The Interprofessional Standardized Patient Team Experience (SPTE) involves students and faculty from midwestern medical, occupational therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing programs. The SPTE occurs three times during the academic year and provides the opportunity for teams comprising a mix of interprofessional students to develop a discharge plan for a standardized patient scenario.
