Brian Abery, Ph.D., holds a doctorate in educational psychology and is Co-Director of ICI’s RTC on HCBS Outcome Measurement and Global Disability Rights and Inclusion Program and adjunct faculty within the Department of Educational Psychology (Special Education). He has served as PI and Co-PI on over 50 federally funded projects designed to enhance the self-determination and social inclusion of adults with disabilities, facilitate the employment of transition-age youth, and better understand the impact of care coordination. Dr. Abery is the primary author of curricula and assessments designed to enhance the self-determination, educational inclusion, and leadership capacities of persons with IDD.

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience health disparities and inadequate healthcare due partially to lack of knowledge about IDD among healthcare professionals.
