Dr. Denise Mustiful-Martin is a Board-Certified Periodontist who is recognized for several firsts in her career. She was the first African American and female to integrate and graduate from the Periodontal Residency Program at the UTHSC College of Dentistry. She was the First and Only Black Periodontist in Memphis, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Meharry recruited her to teach in its clinical curriculum. She has coached several African American women who entered dental school and now are practicing dentists. She was a member of the American Dental National Test Constructor’s Committee for national dental licensure examination preparation.
