Diane Ferguson is the Director of the HEB Clinical Skills Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UT Health). She has been in SP education since 1995. Ms. Ferguson has developed, implemented, and administered new SP programs at both UT Health (1995) and the University of South Florida (1999). She received her degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Ferguson has served on the Board of Directors, Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) as Membership Committee Chair, inaugural Conference Committee Chair, and most recently as Vice President for Finance.

Effective interprofessional education (IPE) is an opportunity to connect education to new models of healthcare. Increasing the scope of practice of medicine/dentistry, while increasing interactions, are proposed strategies to improve patients’ access and quality of care. In this Lightning Talk, we will describe the longitudinal expansion of preclinical IPE spanning the classroom/clinical learning environment in the clinical skills course and discuss the results from the first year of this expansion.
