Elizabeth Zink is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neurocritical Care, a position she has held for 17 years. Dr. Zink has worked as a staff nurse, nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist in the areas of neurosciences and stroke, managing clinical care, research and education at the patient, staff and systems level. She has a track record of leadership in quality improvement efforts, organizing interprofessional teams and translation of evidence into nursing practice. Her research interests focus on applying early rehabilitation interventions in neurocritical care and stroke as well as the effects of team performance on stroke patient outcomes.

Introduction: Team coordination problems continue to be an important source of errors, inefficiencies, conflict and other adverse events in health care.
