Dr. Isabel Gross is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine. She is the Chair of the Scientific Review Committee of the INSPIRE pediatric simulation research network, is on the executive board of INSPIRE, and she serves on the Board of Directors for the International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS). She is a founding chair of the IPSS-INSPIRE Pediatric Simulation Fellowship. Dr. Gross is a research mentor for simulation educators around the globe and her simulation-based research focus is on community outreach simulations, distance simulations, and international simulations.

While simulation educators have been consulted and called upon to quickly transition in-person interprofessional education to the online environment, the burden on simulation educators and support staff is often overlooked. The charge to create distance healthcare simulation also creates faculty development needs, including: acceptance of abrupt change and the ability to adapt to online environments and technology. With new resources appearing in peer-reviewed literature, listservs, and social media every hour, there is an additional need for thoughtful curation of activities and materials.…
