Dr. Mascaro is a biological anthropologist with research interests that center on (1) the variation in, and plasticity of, human social cognition, and (2) the biology of interconnectedness. Her research program examines interventions that enhance social connectivity, and in so doing, impact health. Current projects include longitudinal investigations of compassion and mindfulness meditation training for diverse populations including Emory Healthcare employees, medical and physician’s assistant students, hospital chaplains, and for patients with cancer.

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:

The Interprofessional Identity Program (IPIP) was created to provide a longitudinal setting for nursing and medical students to learn about each other and consider their professional identities as members of interprofessional health care teams. The curriculum was predominantly student led and presented virtually, and considered the aspects of teamwork, resilience, critical consciousness, and workplace culture.
