Jessica Barré is an instructor of nursing at Cumberland University, a family nurse practitioner, and a doctoral student at East Tennessee State University, where she is completing a Doctor of Philosophy of Nursing degree. She is a certified nurse educator, teaching critical care nursing, pharmacology, and health assessment laboratories. For her dissertation, she is studying the lived experiences of nurses caring for patients with COVID-19.

The Interprofessional Education Collaborative defines four competency domains as essential to interprofessional education (IPE). However, there is no consistent model for IPE curriculum development across health professions programs, and many learning opportunities are independent, siloed experiences offering little continuity from one experience to the next. Additionally, programs are challenged to provide authentic learning experiences that reflect both clinical and community health settings.
