Joseph Merighi, PhD, MSW, LISW is an Associate Professor and Interim Director of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities School of Social Work. Dr. Merighi conducts research on social work practice in health care settings, with a particular focus on nephrology. He teaches graduate level classes in research methods, program evaluation, and diversity, equity and inclusion. Dr. Merighi’s current work examines the role of social workers on healthcare teams.

Background: There is a paucity of data on the interprofessional collaborative practices of pharmacists and social workers. In particular, the potential for collaboration between these two professions to optimize medication use and reduce morbidity and mortality appears untapped.
