Dr. Rivera is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She leads the UCSF School of Medicine Interprofessional Education program and co-chairs the UCSF Program for Interprofessional Practice and Education Committees on faculty development and assessment. Dr. Rivera directs the University of California San Francisco Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program, and develops curricula to train health professions faculty, students, and practitioners to provide optimal interprofessional health care for older adults. She is the Founding Chair of the American Geriatrics Society Interprofessional Education and Practice Special Interest Group, and a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators.
