Josh Hinson, MSW, LCSW is an Assistant Professor in the UNC School of Social Work and the Assistant Director of Relational Leadership at Carolina. Previously a mental health and substance use treatment provider for Spanish-speakers, Hinson has worked since 2013 with resettlement organizations, health and mental health providers, and other local, state and federal agencies to establish an integrated system of care for refugees in the NC Triangle Area. Hinson teaches courses on migration, immigration and citizenship law and policy, and working with immigrant refugee survivors of torture and trauma.

Embedded within UNC’s Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice, Relational Leadership at Carolina is an interprofessional, cross-generational learning community focused on building skills to support “an inclusive mindset and community” to thrive through authentic connection. Relational Leadership at Carolina was founded in 2018 and launched its first pilot program in Spring 2019.
