I grew up in Brownsville Washington, the daughter of a librarian and a public health educator. I went to many community health events as part of my mother’s work. It was at these bicycle health fittings and second hand smoking education booths that I discovered the importance of public health. After two years of working for urban nonprofits in Washington State, I wanted to have a route back to rural communities. This is what inspired me to attend Elson S Floyd College of Medicine and to become a full spectrum family physician practicing in rural Washington.

Background: Death Over Dinner (DoD) for Healthcare Professionals (https://deathoverdinnerhealthcare.org) is a free, open access website that was created as a resource for healthcare workers to connect around the subjects of death and dying, and to help them process the grief and stress that comes with caring for patients at the end of life.
