Justina Lipscomb, PharmD, BCPS, graduated from Roseman University, College of Pharmacy (COP) in Henderson, NV, in 2012. She obtained a PGY-1 general pharmacy residency certificate in 2017 from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, and an Internal Medicine (IM) PGY-2 pharmacy residency at the South Texas Veteran Health Care System in San Antonio, TX in 2018. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy and an IM Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Her research passions include diversity and inclusion, interprofessional education, and cardiology.

Interprofessional case competitions have been used nationally for many years to advance interprofessional education (IPE). The CLARION competition at the University of Minnesota serves as an exemplary model that has been adopted across the country. With increasing attention on addressing the national opioid crisis, new legislation and guidelines have been enacted concerning the prescribing and management of analgesic (i.e., pain) medications. Non-opioid regimens are recommended for postoperative dental surgery pain. However, many new dental graduates have insufficient standardized experiences in selecting postoperative pain management after dental procedures.
