Katie Santanello received her bachelors degree from The University of Notre Dame in 2018. She then went on to the University of Cincinnati to complete her MPH in Epidemiology in 2019. She is now in her second year of medical school at The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is passionate about the intersection of public health and the future of medicine as it pertains to maximizing the health of our most vulnerable populations. Katie is an Officer in the United States Navy and will serve her country as a military physician upon graduation from medical school.

Background:
In light of the response to the ongoing pandemic, 2019-nCoV, our interprofessional student team developed a multi-disciplinary plan to analyze and address best practices in client-centered care after evaluating failed performance indicators across education, public health, infrastructure, and mental health. While hindsight is 20/20, we reference highlighted research to develop a pandemic playbook. This playbook emphasizes measures that we recommend be taken in order to combat future pandemics.

Background:
We believe that interprofessional education (IPE) has benefited our clinical practice because our experience taught us a collaborative approach to healthcare. We seek to understand if our experiences align with the broader population. We believe that interprofessional approaches to educating future healthcare leaders and an early emphasis on collaborative education can improve the delivery of services and patient care from future providers through enhanced collaboration with other health professionals.
