Kimkesia is an Occupational Therapist with over 19 years of experience in various settings. She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a Master of Science degree in Educational Law from Nova Southeastern University. Her clinical experience has been primarily working with geriatrics, and adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals and home health. Kimkesia’s research interests include community living skills, vocational rehabilitation, and health and wellness of adults with disabilities within educational and job-related settings, and fieldwork education.

In preparation to become a healthcare professional, clinical experiences are one of the most crucial aspects of translating didactic coursework into clinical practice (Brown et al., 2016). It is recognized that students with integrated emotional intelligence (EI) are identified as performing higher at providing individualized, meaningful, and culturally sensitive care (Mckenna and Mellson, 2013).
