Kristy Kosub, MD, FACP, is a Professor and Director of Student Education in the Department of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio. She has been involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education for 33 years and maintains a clinical practice as a general internist. Her educational areas of interest are the preparation and transition of graduating senior medical students to residency training, communication skills, and the medical humanities. Dr. Kosub has experience in curriculum design and developing observed structured clinical examinations to enhance learning and assessment of clinical skills for student and resident trainees.

The importance of health literacy, combined with increasing accreditation expectations for interprofessional communication, affords a rich opportunity for interprofessional education (IPE).
