Lauren East, MD, is an internal medicine resident physician at Washington University in St. Louis. She trained at Medical College of Georgia before joining the John T. Milliken Department of Internal Medicine at WUSTL, where she is participating in the Washington University Teaching Physicians Pathway. Her medical education research interests include of medical ethics curriculum development and interprofessional, team-based learning with several prior publications in these areas. Dr. East hopes to pursue fellowships in Cardiology and Medical Education upon completion of her Internal Medicine Residency.

Background The Interprofessional Standardized Patient Team Experience (SPTE) involves students and faculty from midwestern medical, occupational therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing programs. The SPTE occurs three times during the academic year and provides the opportunity for teams comprising a mix of interprofessional students to develop a discharge plan for a standardized patient scenario.
