Dr. Lisa Martinez received her MD from the University of Miami and completed her Internal Medicine training at the University of Virginia. After serving as faculty at the University of Virginia, she joined the University of Miami and was the founding program director for the Internal Medicine Residency at Holy Cross Hospital. Later, she joined the faculty at Florida Atlantic University where she directs pre-clerkship clinical curriculum which focuses on clinical skills, communication, ethics, social determinants of health and interprofessional education. Clinically, she works with residents and sees patients at underserved clinics. She focuses on preventive medicine and medical education.

Polypharmacy is a dilemma seen predominantly in older adult patients and patients with chronic, complex illnesses, with complicated medication regimens prescribed by multiple providers.
