Lou Clark, (Ph.D., Arizona State University, M.F.A., University of New Mexico) is a healthcare simulation educator and researcher who currently serves as the Executive Director of M Simulation within the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Since 2007, Dr. Clark has designed and delivered simulated educational experiences for healthcare trainees across the health sciences and other practitioners including medical, nursing, physician assistant, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, dentistry, social work, law, and occupational therapy students in addition to chaplains, residents and attending faculty. She has also coached residents and allied health professionals in further development of communication skills in clinical settings including at Walter Reed Military Medical Center while serving as Deputy Director of Clinical Simulation for Uniformed Services University. Her scholarship focuses on clinical communication skill development, specifically compassion and empathy in healthcare simulation training. Representative peer reviewed scholarship includes publications in Simulation in Healthcare, Health Communication, and Communication Monographs in addition to the forthcoming co-edited and co-authored book Comprehensive Healthcare Simulation: Implementing Best Practices of Standardized Patient Methodology.
