Mary K. Stamatakis, PharmD is Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation and Professor at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. In this capacity, she oversees development, implementation, and evaluation of all educational aspects of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. She facilitates curricular development and innovation, serves as the School of Pharmacy liaison for interprofessional education initiatives at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, and oversees the continued accreditation of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. She is also responsible for faculty development related to education.

Background:At West Virginia University, health professions students participate in a year-long interprofessional education (IPE) program focused on the IPEC competencies. For teamwork, students participate in a “Mistake Room” - a hospital room that intentionally contains medical errors and room hazards. Students first individually determine mistakes present, and then work as a team to more fully identify errors present.
