Meghan Smith is currently an MPH-Epidemiology candidate at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she interns with the Office of Interprofessional (IP) Initiatives and Hollings Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office. She graduated from the College of Charleston in May of 2020 with a B.S. in Public Health, while in undergrad she interned with MUSC’s IP Office and became interested in interprofessional teamwork. Her research interests include immunological pathways of Epstein-Barr Virus in head and neck cancers, survivorship, and interprofessional relationships. Meghan will graduate from MUSC in the December and plans on pursing a PhD in Epidemiology.

Every January since 2006 at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), first and second-year students come together to participate in an annual event called Interprofessional Day, designed to further develop a culture of collaborative teamwork and improve patient care and safety. Typically, students break into 70 - 80 pre-assigned interprofessional student groups that meet in locations across campus.
