Michelle L. Zafron, MLS is an Associate Librarian and the Coordinator of Reference Services for the Health Sciences Library at the University at Buffalo. She possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Political Science and Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University at Buffalo, and is a recipient of the 2015 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship. She has research interests in the use of social networking in the library setting, avoiding plagiarism, and the correlation between information literacy and evidence-based research skills.

Helping students to develop creative problem-solving skills and to work with other professions to come up with novel solutions is a key part of interprofessional collaboration (IPC). Innovation sprints are considered to be a novel pedagogy where small, diverse groups of students gather to find innovative solutions to problems within a given field. At the University at Buffalo Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) students worked together to address the problem of medication adherence among low-income patients using an innovation sprint.
