Tenure-track faculty as Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State University School of Nursing and Nurse Scientist with Houston Methodist Hospital. The program of research includes human-environment Interaction, with a specific emphasis on the biobehavioral factors which examines how nurses responses are affected by their environment and work activities are related to/affect biobehavioral responses including psychological responses (e.g., anxiety, stress, fatigue), biological responses (e.g., stress/inflammatory hormones), behaviors (e.g., physical activity) and health outcomes (e.g., cognitive function). and Healthy Work Environment Initiative.

Background: Virtual reality (VR) a 3-diminential immersion experience allows for multiple sensory experiences involving visual and auditory olfactory senses. VR has shown success in the pediatric population in reducing procedural pain. Limited research is available to support VR use in adult patients.
