Dr. Spell is an internal medicine physician, professor and associate dean for education and professional development at Emory University School of Medicine. He served 10 years as Chief Quality Officer of Emory University Hospital and is the director of the Emory Quality Academy, training over 1500 health professionals in interprofessional quality improvement and patient safety courses. Dr. Spell is the executive director for continuing medical education at Emory and actively teaches at all levels of interprofessional education in health care.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
The Interprofessional Identity Program (IPIP) was created to provide a longitudinal setting for nursing and medical students to learn about each other and consider their professional identities as members of interprofessional health care teams. The curriculum was predominantly student led and presented virtually, and considered the aspects of teamwork, resilience, critical consciousness, and workplace culture.
