Dr. Moote, PharmD, MSc, BCPS, received her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2007 from The University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Science in Pharmacy and Advanced Practice Pharmacotherapy Specialty Residency at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas in 2009. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of Texas College of Pharmacy and an Adjoint Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Dr. Moote maintains an active practice in the area of internal medicine. She is a board certified, clinical pharmacy specialist at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Background: The Quality Enhancement Plan at UT Health San Antonio, Linking Interprofessional Networks for Collaboration (LINC), serves as the institutional blueprint for transforming campus-wide interprofessional education (IPE). A key component of this plan includes cultivating knowledge and skills in faculty and staff to increase IPE opportunities for learners. With increasing attention on addressing the national opioid crisis, new legislation and guidelines have been enacted concerning the prescribing and management of analgesic (i.e., pain) medications. Non-opioid regimens are recommended for postoperative dental surgery pain. However, many new dental graduates have insufficient standardized experiences in selecting postoperative pain management after dental procedures.
