Shane Spaulding is a clinical assistant professor with UM-Flint College of Health Sciences. His research interests include identifying barriers to transitioning respiratory therapies to the outpatient setting, educating respiratory therapy educators, and palliative care for patients with chronic pulmonary lung diseases. As a clinical education coordinator, he works on experiential learning opportunities outside of standard entry-level respiratory therapy education. He is interested in methods for incorporating IPE into respiratory therapy degree advancement education.

Interprofessional education has been focused on student education and competency development to foster effective patient-centered communication between health professionals.
