Shannon O'Dell is a Student Physical Therapist at Regis University who has acknowledged the importance of inter professional collaboration within physical therapy from the beginnings of observing the profession. It became more apparent that having the ability to work well with other professions not only improves workplace morale, but it affects patients in positive ways that will enhance their care. Increasing awareness of the six core competencies that are essential in successful inter professional collaboration can help transition the medical community into a concept of caring for the whole person instead of just a diagnosis.
