Dr. Stacy Mikel, DNP, MSN, RN, COI earned an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2007, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008, a Master of Science in Nursing in 2015, a Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Education in 2016, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2019. She began her career in nursing education as a clinical instructor in 2009 at a community college. In 2016, Dr. Mikel became an instructor of nursing at a community college. In 2018, Dr. Mikel joined the team at Jacksonville State University as a nursing instructor. In 2019, Dr. Mikel was promoted to an assistant professor of nursing.

Baccalaureate nursing program cohort numbers continue to increase while clinical site availability decreases, especially in psychiatric settings. To address this issue, faculty sought to incorporate meaningful simulation learning experiences to supplement hospital-based learning experiences.
