Susan Kilroy PhD, CHSE is the Director of the Clinical Learning Resource Center and M. Christine Schwartz
Experiential Learning and Simulation Laboratory, Dr. Kilroy provides leadership and oversight of the student success program including peer mentoring, peer tutoring and the nursing simulation labs at six UIC Campuses. Dr. Kilroy’s research interest is interprofessional education (IPE) and the impact IPE has on health care professionals’ collaborative practice behaviors and patient outcomes. Dr. Kilroy is a member of the University wide IPE Steering Committee that focuses on delivering evidence-based learning experiences that foster collaborative practice competence and interprofessional scholarship across academic programs and clinical services.

Background: Successful large enrollment Interprofessional Education (IPE) programs benefit from the expertise of skilled facilitators; however, finding talented facilitators can be challenging. As Registered Nurses, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students typically have years of work experience, making them ideally suited to serve as advanced peer facilitators for IPE offerings.
