Dr. Wiers is an Assistant Professor – Clinical in the College of Nursing (CON) at Wayne State University (WSU). She is a family nurse practitioner (FNP) and has a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Dr. Wiers is clinical faculty for FNP and undergraduate community health students and teaches DNP courses. Dr. Wiers is an Interprofessional Education (IPE) Faculty Champion with Michigan Area Health Education Centers (AHEC). In her role as IPE faculty, Dr. Wiers was course coordinator for an IPE telehealth course, is faculty for AHEC Scholars, and is collaborating on the development of an IPE and telehealth course.

BackgroundDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, health professional programs revolved quickly to virtually deliver sound pedagogy for students’ learning and clinical practice.
