Suzanne C. Smeltzer, EdD, RN, ANEF, FAAN is the inaugural Richard and Marianne Kreider Endowed Professor in Nursing for Vulnerable Populations at the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at Villanova University. She has conducted multiple studies related to integration of disability content in nursing education curricula and has overseen the standardized patients with disability program at Villanova University. She recently authored, Delivering Quality Healthcare for People with Disability, to provide healthcare educators with strategies to ensure quality care to individuals with disability.

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience health disparities and inadequate healthcare due partially to lack of knowledge about IDD among healthcare professionals.
