Unity Clinic Community Vaccination Team Lead

Tate Atkinson is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma's College of Public Health with a Masters of Public Health in Health Administration and Policy and an incoming first-year medical student at the University of Oklahoma's College of Medicine. He has worked with the Unity Clinic team since 2019 and helped lead the development and implementation of the clinic in its first year. He is interested in developing an inclusive workforce and learning from these experiences to address health inequities in Oklahoma. Professional interests include chronic disease prevention policy, health services, and health equity.

With the approval of the first COVID-19 vaccines, it became clear that students at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center (OUHSC) would be an integral component of the University’s community vaccination efforts. The OUHSC campus cares for Oklahomans across the state and took on the responsibility of leading large vaccination events early during vaccine rollout. To meet the needs of our state, the Unity Clinic, the campus's student-led interprofessional clinical experience, served as a vehicle to recruit and engage students from across the campuses 7 colleges.
