Dr. Danner is the director of behavioral health for the Woodwinds Family Medicine Residency Program (formerly St. Joseph's Hospital program) and works in the department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota where she began as the department’s first full-time post-doctoral fellow in behavioral health. Dr. Danner’s clinical activities include providing integrated behavioral health services in the primary care setting and teaching family medicine residents about patient centered communication skills and motivational interviewing. Her passions include pediatric behavioral health integration, obesity prevention and chronic pain management. She now supervises post-doctoral fellows in Primary Care Behavioral Health.

Estimates indicate over 95% of children in the United States regularly visit a pediatric provider and primary care is the only health care system attended by the vast majority of children before school enrollment. Approximately 40% of outpatient pediatric visits involve a mental or behavioral health concern. However, pediatric providers often lack training and confidence to diagnose and treat children’s mental health.
