Dr. Danny R. Welch is a cancer biologist whose laboratory has is most widely recognized for contributions to understanding the genetic basis of metastasis. After working in the pharmaceutical industry studying cancer biology and virology and joining Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, his laboratory moved to the University of Alabama - Birmingham. In 2011, he founded the Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Kansas Cancer Center. He is a Komen Scholar Emeritus and Past-President of the Metastasis Research Society and Vice-President/Treasurer of the Cancer Biology Training Consortium. He currently serves as a Deputy Editor of Cancer Research.
