Learning Objectives
1. Highlight the importance and the impacts of IPE Badges and Path of Distinction on developing collaborative practice-ready future practitioners.
2. Explore a framework for creating requirements for an IPE Path of Distinction that works across different health science programs.

According to the World Health Organization (2010), students in health/social professional programs are required to be collaborative practice-ready at the time of graduation as they are required to work collaboratively with other members of interprofessional teams in the workplace. To help health/social professional students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) become collaborative practice-ready, the UW Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (UW CIPE) in collaboration with its seven program/school partners has developed the two-year longitudinal UW Interprofessional Practice and Education Path of Distinction (UW IPE PoD) Program (https://cipe.wisc.edu/education/#pod).

The UW IPE PoD is one of the first in its kind in the nation that recognizes and awards students with special interest in interprofessional practice and education (IPE) with distinction at graduation. This program is built upon the UW CIPE Badger Program in which we provide focused IPE academic training for Digital IPE Badges to cross-professional students at UW–Madison and its partners. In the past two years, we have awarded close to 800 students with IPE Badges.

The UW IPE PoD Program provides students with opportunities to advance their IPE learning through didactics, experiential, clinical/ community, research, and leadership learning opportunities that supplements their program-specific education. In order to receive the UW IPE PoD award, students need to complete and satisfy the program requirements before graduation.

In this Lightning Talk, after a brief overview of the IPE POD and Badger Programs participants will be engaged in conversation and discussion on strategies and approaches to develop, implement, and evaluate IPE Badges and PoD opportunities within their program/school/university.
