Pandemic Pearls: Integrating Telehealth Applications into Community Based Doctoral Nursing Education
This pilot study aims to empower chronic disease self-management strategies, foster improved individual and community health outcomes, as well as sustain interprofessional partnerships. Purposeful telehealth applications and re-envisioned clinical and didactic adaptations will enhance the provision of primary care in two at-risk, community-based populations. As partners in care, community members will collaborate longitudinally with undergraduate and graduate nursing students to navigate a simulated virtual care delivery experience. Through the development of trusted relationships, community needs will be identified and guide further interprofessional collaboration with potential to integrate social work, PTA, and OTA students, as well as registered dietitians and food access programs. Additional educational modalities will be utilized to promote cultural sensitivity and diversity awareness.
